Global Tectonic Activity Map (GTAM): A schematic map of the global tectonic activity of the past 1 million years. Plate boundaries and macro-scale tectonic structures are depicted at scale for both continental and oceanic crust. A representative sampling of volcanic hotspots are geo-registered to known areas of recent volcanism (~ Holocene Epoch). Crustal motions at oceanic spreading ridges are at a rate measured in centimeters per year derived from the NUVEL-1 model.
