Geodynamics Branch at Goddard Space Flight Center

Lori Glaze is Research Scientist with Proxemy Research, Inc, and is currently collaborating with colleagues at Goddard Space Fight Center. I have a BA and an MS in Physics from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a PhD in Environmental Science from Lancaster University in Lancaster, England. Before coming to Proxemy, I worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for 6 years and as a Universities Space Research Association Visiting Scientist at GSFC for 1 1/2 years. My primary interests lie in Physical Volcanology and Remote Sensing.

I am currently involved in two major projects: Virtually Hawaii and the Earth Observing System Volcanology Interdisciplinary Science team. Virtually Hawaii is a NASA funded project managed from the Hawaii Space Grant College to make NASA data available to educators and the general public over the internet. To see some beautiful pictures of Hawaii, be sure to check it out! The Volcanology IDS team is involved in preparing for the launch of the EOS AM-1 platform in 1998. I am involved with writing algorithms to determine the temperatures and topography of volcanic eruption plumes using EOS satellite data.

I am also a Co-Investigator on a NASA MTPE project to study the simulations of geologic mass movements over digital topography, and on a NASA Planetary Geology and Geophysics project to study theoretical aspects of planetary volcanism.

In any time I have left, I actively participate in the raising of my two daughters, Evelyn (4) and Ida (1).
